Downtown has local shops and restaurants beside Drake Park and Mirror Pond. Farther south, the Old Mill District combines shopping, dining, and river access, with concerts at Hayden Homes Amphitheater across the water. These are two distinct centers of activity, rather than one continuous downtown.

Bend’s parks also give different parts of town their character. Shevlin Park offers forested trails along Tumalo Creek west of town. In northeast Bend, Pine Nursery Park brings together sports fields, walking paths, pickleball, and an off-leash dog area. Trips to Mt. Bachelor and the Cascade Lakes add another reason people choose Bend.
